Texture, atmosphere and energy. These are the things that move me the most!

Colorful, rhythmic mark making is intended to impart a mood and a sense of movement that is most profoundly inspired by music. The lines, curves, textures and atmospheres, are rooted in the musical elements of rhythm, dynamics and space.

A native of North Carolina, I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) receiving a BFA in painting in 1992,. My early professional career was spent in both the private and public sectors primarily focused on faux finishing and portraiture, later applying my skills in film and television as a scenic painter.

Influenced by the philosophy of the surrealists and the intuitive nature of Jackson Pollack's automatic style, my personal approach to painting is often one of kinetic improvisation. Whatever my intention in the beginning, a "conversation" with the surface takes place that invariably takes many turns along the way. Whether the painting is dynamic and heavily textured or soft and atmospheric my process is a flow within the present moment that allows the content of my unconscious to find its way into the imagery.

.Simply, I endeavor to supply improvisational, visual poetry. I hope you enjoy.
